Pilar Sherman
Aliza
Pilar Sherman, co-founder, Eviva.net, is an Internet
thought leader, online marketing expert and evangelist for the Internet,
particularly as a valuable and useful tool for women's lives. She
built the first 3 websites for women on the World Wide Web in 1995
(Cybergrrl.com, Webgrrls.com, Femina.com) and is considered the
pioneer who helped to paved the way on the Web for women. She is
currently developing a bilingual site for the professional Hispanic
women's market in the United States and abroad, EVIVA.NET.
Sherman
was named one of "The Most Powerful People in Their 20's" by SWING
magazine in 1997 and listed as one of the "Top 50 People Who Matter
Most on the Internet" by Newsweek. She is the author of the
book, "Cybergrrl: A Woman's Guide to the World Wide Web" (Ballantine)
and the upcoming book "Cybergrrl @ Work: Inspirations and Tips for
the Professional You" (Fall 2000, Penguin Putnam).
In addition
to serving on the advisory board for the Oxygen/Markle Pulse, she
is an advisor to two nonprofit organizations for girls and several
websites for girls and is part of the American Association of University
Women's gender and technology task force. She was recently invited
to be on the SBA Braintrust for women-owned businesses.
In 1995,
Sherman created the first website for women -- Cybergrrl.com --
and founded Cybergrrl, Inc., a new media and entertainment company
focused on the women's marketing online as well as founded Webgrrls,
a networking group for women interested in the Internet that currently
has over 100 chapters worldwide.
Sherman
lives in New York City with her two chihuahuas.
